MEET ANNIE

Hi, I’m Annie! I’m an Interventional Radiology technologist, educator, current President of the Association of Vascular and Interventional Radiographers (AVIR), and the person behind In the Loop™.

I started my IR career in 2008 after graduating from the Charles J. Tegtmeyer School of Interventional Radiology at the University of Virginia. Since then, I’ve worked across vascular, non-vascular, and neurointerventional radiology.

Along the way, teaching became just as important to me as the work itself. I’ve precepted and mentored technologists, developed lectures and hands-on skills labs, and built a structured IR internship for technologists transitioning into the specialty. Watching people grow from beginners into confident members of the team has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.

IR has a huge learning curve, and while there’s no replacement for a great preceptor or hands-on experience, I believe people also deserve accessible, quality education and resources. I started In the Loop to take my love for teaching beyond the people standing beside me in the IR suite. What began as educational content grew into Simply IR: Non-Vascular, with dedicated Vascular and Neuro books currently in the works.
